Context

In Africa, many children cannot move from primary to secondary school due to a lack of access to quality and affordable revision materials needed to pass their exams. For instance, the primary completion rate in Sub-Sahara Africa is 20% lower than the global average. So, to make solutions that are more inclusive, the solution design must ensure a deep understanding of the context and structural limitations of the countries.

Solution

Eneza Education tackles this problem by offering low-tech educational solutions tailored for underserved students. They use SMS to deliver revision notes and curriculum-aligned materials and provide data-efficient web solutions to ensure affordability and accessibility. Eneza aims to empower learners with the resources necessary for academic success and societal contribution.

Impact

Eneza Education aims to enhance the learning outcomes of 50 million African students. By providing accessible and affordable educational resources, they help students pass crucial exams and transition to secondary education, thus improving their future prospects and ability to contribute to society.

Analysis

The model’s reliance on basic mobile technology makes it feasible in areas with limited internet access. With proper localization, regulatory support, and sustainable funding, this intervention can be replicated in other countries, enhancing the learning outcomes of millions of students and enabling their transition to secondary education.
