Context

Despite the increasing smartphone ownership rate projected for 2020, many children still struggle with basic literacy skills in Pakistan. Haroon Yasin recognized this educational gap and founded the Orenda Project to address it. Through the Taleemabad app, Orenda aims to provide access to the national curriculum using digital learning methods, mainly targeting children overlooked by traditional schooling systems.

Solution

The Taleemabad app, developed by Orenda, serves as a hub for adaptive learning, catering to teachers, students, parents, and school owners. Utilizing innovative technology, the platform employs creative teaching methods to deliver education that is aligned with the national curriculum. Animated cartoons cover fundamental subjects such as reading and mathematics, making learning engaging and accessible for children.

Impact

Initially serving 70 children, Taleemabad's user base quickly expanded to accommodate thousands more, reflecting its growing impact on education accessibility. However, managing individual progress became challenging as the organization scaled up to reach tens of thousands of children. Despite this, Taleemabad's innovative approach has undoubtedly made strides in democratizing education and providing learning opportunities to marginalized communities in Pakistan.

Analysis

The solution has evolved over time; however, it's essential to understand the impact based on impact assessment to examine the success of the intervention. Moreover, it's vital to determine how effective the solution has been in remote areas that lack digital literacy.
