Context and Issue
Inclusion means more than just being at school physically. It's about not feeling left out in class, during learning and play, in relationships with teachers and other children, and every part of school life. Children with disabilities often face exclusion, so inclusion is about ensuring they're not left out.
Solution
Caregivers of children with disabilities face challenges in adjusting to inclusive education. Teachers can learn from caregivers about the kids' needs and help find the best ways to support their learning. This guide helps teachers work with caregivers to identify each child's needs, understand their challenges, and develop solutions. It's part of a set of resources to help marginalized caregivers with inclusive education.
The guide includes resources related to (1) identifying their children’s individualized learning needs, (2) identifying the challenges in meeting these needs, and (3) identifying solutions to address these challenges.
Impact
The guide was developed in 2022. It is still in the implementing phase, so it is too early to establish any impact regarding the results from using the guide.
